The Museum of Fine Arts was built to house artworks confiscated during the revolution. Today, it takes an encyclopaedic look at art over a vast period. European painting and sculpture of the 19th and 20th centuries are particularly well represented, as well as Roman, Etruscan, Greek and Egyptian antiquities.
